Sorry for the very long delay in getting back to you. Since it's been
so long, I really hesitated in just applying your patches, but there
are really too many things to change, which we cannot easily do without
access to the hardware to verify that things continue to work.

So I'll reply to the individual patches. Hopefully you will find some
time to take the comments into account and respin a new iteration of
this series.
