[Buildroot] Requesting libvte

Ok, as you correctly assumed I am a newb to open-source contributions - hence my unintended ignorant suggestion.
I took a look at the list again, and it seems as if someone was unexpectedly quick on his feet:

Should I attempt to make a patch for this or leave it to him?
